If you are thinking of getting into real estate, here are some tips on the pre-licensing exam.

From one of my YouTube videos, I got a request to give some tips about pre-licensing and getting into real estate. So I thought why not? My name is Shawn Bhakta, Real Estate Team Leader with Remax Presidential and also I've been doing real estate for 23 years. This is my 23rd year in South Florida. I met many real estate agents. I inspired many real estate agents to get their license and many of them are very successful right now.

So here are a couple of things I like to tell you about, if you're thinking of getting into real estate, the pre-licensing course, you have many ways to do that. You can go to the real estate school, you can do it online, either through the video or, online course with questions and answers. My suggestion will be to go to the school. Because COVID is out right now, schools are open, go to the school. And the reason behind this is real estate is a people's business. It's a business we built up more through networking, through keeping in touch. Start it right now, go to the school, and get to know the other people in the same class. You're going to have an opportunity to ask questions to the instructor directly and just start building up that habit to build relationships. So that's number one.

Then one of the suggestions, always the instructor gave that at the exam, read the question multiple times. So that is so important. Either school exam or when you go for the state exam, read the question at least three times. Because once you read the question under multiple-choice, we think, oh, this is the answer. But then when you read it again and again, then you will see the real answer is something different because questions are kind of twisted. So that's the other thing I would suggest to you.

Another little technical thing. As you know, you need permission from the state because you got the fingerprint and state application for the state exam, do that right away. A lot of people make that mistake. They do the school, they pass the school, then do the application. Guess what? There's a long line on that. They're backed up. It may take 2 to 5 weeks for you to get that application back with the permission to appear for the state exam. And then you break the flow. Get that as soon as possible. You join the school, do the fingerprint, send that application to the state and do your schooling. By the time you pass the school test, you're going to have that approved application already in your hand. And then you prepare yourself in a week or so and go for the state exam. 

And last but not least, when you are at the state exam, definitely take the whole 3 hours. Do not rush, do not get out of that, leave the computer in 2 hours or two and a half hours even. Take the full time and whenever you mark a question right, after reading a few times, do not change it. You do have an option, if you're not sure, you can put that on the side, mark it, and later on, you go back and give the answer, and that is fine. But if you after reading the question marked it right, do not go back because there's a chance you're going to take the right answer out and put the wrong answer.
